Announcing Amazon Q Business, now generally available, helps boost workforce productivity with generative AI

At AWS re:Invent 2023, Amazon previewed Amazon Q Business, a generative AI-powered assistant designed to answer queries, provide summaries, generate content, and complete tasks securely using data from enterprise systems. Following extensive customer feedback during the preview phase, Amazon Q Business is now generally available with several new features, including custom plugins, and a preview of Amazon Q Apps, allowing for the creation of customized, shareable applications using natural language.

Amazon Q Business seamlessly integrates with over 40 enterprise data sources, ensuring secure access to content with existing credentials through single sign-on. It facilitates easy retrieval of information and insights through a web-based chat assistant, enabling users to ask questions and receive responses based on logical summarization and trend analysis of enterprise data. Key features include:

End-user web experience: Users can interact with Amazon Q Business through a built-in web interface, allowing for the retrieval of responses from approved data sources and content creation using generative AI models. Pre-built data connectors and plugins: Amazon Q Business offers over 40 pre-built data connectors and the option to configure custom plugins to perform actions in enterprise systems, such as creating Jira issues or Salesforce cases. Admin control and guardrails: Administrators can configure global and topic-level controls to manage responses and access to enterprise data, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Enhanced enterprise-grade security and management: Amazon Q Business integrates with various AWS services for secure data storage and access, including AWS IAM Identity Center for user identity management and AWS PrivateLink for secure VPC connectivity. Additionally, Amazon Q Business introduces Amazon Q Apps, allowing users to create customized, AI-powered applications based on company data without coding experience. Users can generate apps using natural language prompts and share them securely within their organization.

Amazon Q Business is available in the US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) Regions with two pricing subscription options: Amazon Q Business Lite ($3/user/month) and Amazon Business Pro ($20/user/month). A free trial option is also available for experimentation.
