View and connect to your GameLift fleet instances right from the console
Hi everyone,
We just rolled out a new console feature for Amazon GameLift Servers that makes it easier to dig into what’s happening on your fleets. You can now see and connect to individual fleet instances directly in the GameLift console.
Here’s what’s new:
- On the Fleet Detail pages (for both GameLift EC2 and container fleets), there’s now an Instances tab showing all the instances tied to that fleet.
- Each instance has its own detail page with metadata in a clean, human-readable format (the same information you can grab through the DescribeInstances API.
- From either the list or detail view, you can hit the Connect button to spin up an AWS CloudShell session. This launches an SSM session straight into that instance - no extra setup needed.
You now have hands-on tools right in the console to debug, inspect, and fix issues faster. Whether it’s checking host performance, pulling recent server logs, or troubleshooting network config and instance health, you can do it without juggling external tools. This should cut down your turnaround time and give you better visibility into what’s happening “under the hood” of your game server fleets.
This feature is available today in all GameLift Servers supported regions, except AWS China.
Try out in the GameLift console, and check the docs if you want the step-by-step details.
We’d love to hear what you think, especially how this helps (or what else you’d like to see) when you’re debugging fleets.
