This post discusses how you can use Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) Dedicated Hosts and Microsoft License Manager to optimize your Bring Your Own License (BYOL) strategy.

Customers who run Microsoft Workloads on AWS can use the BYOL option to reduce licensing costs for eligible licenses that they own. If your Microsoft licenses are eligible, then you can use them in your AWS account. However, even if you have Software Assurance on your licenses, Windows Server isn't eligible for License Mobility. You must apply these licenses to hardware that's dedicated to you only.

To address this problem, you can use Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts and AWS License Manager. Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts helps you run your Amazon EC2 instances with a familiar experience, and without the need to manage hardware or a hypervisor. When integrated with License Manager to manage your licenses in AWS, you can create an effective BYOL Windows strategy.
