Amazon GameLift Servers now supports Dallas Local Zone for ultra-low latency
Hey all,
We've got great news for latency-sensitive games and studios in and around Texas: Amazon GameLift Servers now supports a new AWS Local Zone in Dallas (us-east-1-dfw-2)!
What this means for you:
- You can deploy GameLift fleets into the Dallas Local Zone using instance types like C6gn, C6i, C6in, M6g, M6i, M6in, M8g, and R6i.
- From the GameLift console, you can enable this Local Zone just like any other region or zone and include it in your fleets.
- By bringing your servers physically closer to players in the Dallas metro area, you can cut down network distance and hit single-digit millisecond latency for real-time gameplay, AR/VR experiences, tournaments, and more.
This is a big win if you have players in Texas or surrounding areas and want that extra edge in responsiveness.
Go ahead and enable it, try it in your test fleets, and see how it improves your latency. If you run into any issues or want to chat about best practices for routing, fleet placement, or cost tradeoffs, feel free to reach out!
