Amazon RDS for Oracle discontinuing X1e Database Instances on November 3, 2025

Amazon RDS for Oracle will discontinue X1e instances on November 3, 2025. We recommend upgrading your database instances to newer generation X2iedn instances before November 3, 2025.

A list of your impacted database instance(s) can be found in the 'Affected resources' tab of your AWS Health Dashboard.

Before you upgrade, please review the price and the capacity required with X2iedn instances because it may be different from X1e instances [1]. If you have Reserved Instances (RIs) affected by this notice, you can cancel and re-purchase the new instance RIs by submitting a request to AWS Support [2].

After November 3, 2025, if you have Amazon RDS for Oracle database instances that continue to use X1e instances, they will be automatically upgraded to equivalent newer generation X2iedn instances of similar size depending on availability. Automatic upgrades are initiated during your specified maintenance window, and your database instances may experience downtime during the upgrade process.

If you have any questions, please reach out to AWS Support [2].
