Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-compatible edition 13.x will reach the end of standard support on February 28, 2026. Customers running databases on Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL 13.x versions need to update to newer database versions of Aurora PostgreSQL.
PostgreSQL 13 will be deprecated by the community in November 2025 [1], and will not receive any bug fixes or security patches after that. Following the community timeline, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL 13 will reach end of standard support on February 28, 2026. However, if you need to continue using Aurora PostgreSQL 13 beyond that date, it will be available on RDS under Amazon RDS Extended Support [2]. With RDS Extended Support, you will pay Extended Support charges [3], but you will have time, up to three years, to upgrade to a new major version. Aurora will provide critical security patches and bug fixes for your Aurora instance as well as the PostgreSQL database engine during that time [4].
If you plan to use Aurora PostgreSQL 13 beyond February 28, 2026, you can estimate your Extended Support charges by using the AWS Pricing Calculator [5]. If you want to avoid paying for RDS Extended Support, please upgrade your Aurora PostgreSQL 13 DB instance before March 1, 2026.
We recommend that you take action and upgrade your Aurora PostgreSQL 13 database (DB) instances to a higher major version, e.g., Aurora PostgreSQL 16 (or higher) before end of standard support on February 28, 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, the AWS Support Team is available on AWS re:Post [6] and via AWS Support [7].
