Load balancer - unable to select a different load balancer type

Question

It is very weird, so I created a new environment and went into their configurations.
I can see that you can edit the 'instance' section and then choose load balancer.  Mine is defaulted to 'classic' type.

But it is greyed out.  I do not see anyway where I can alter the type of load balancer I want (I would like to change the load balancer to application'.

Couldn't find any documentation either to troubleshoot this issue, it is weird because 3 months ago, when I was going through this process, it never looked like this but now the UI has changed slightly, and has confused me.

In order to change classic load balancer to application load balancer you have two option

1- create a new application load balancer and assign the instance to the application load balancer

2- migrate from classic load balancer to application load balancer . refer steps below.

The best option is to create a new ALB and migrate to it then you delete that classic load balancer.

Load balancers do not allow you to change the type.  I would advise you create a new Load Balancer of type Application and once you are happy with the configuration you can remove the existing LB.
