Hello.
The t2.micro available in the free tier only has 0.5GB of memory, which is a little insufficient for GUI operations using RDP.
Additionally, Windows Server spec requirements also recommend 2GB or more of memory when using Desktop Experience.
Therefore, when using the GUI with RDP, we recommend specs of t2.small (in my experience, t2.medium is more comfortable) or higher.

Since Im on the free tier, if I upgrade my instance, will I lose all the other free tier features like the 30gb ebs that come with it? Second, if I upgrade and find it not suited to my needs, would I be able to revert to the free tier again, or is that lost once I move up?
If you change the instance type, the free tier will no longer apply. Even if you change the instance type to outside the free tier, EBS should still give you 30GB of gp2 for free. Thank you for replying. But you said "should". Is it possible for me to get a confirmation before I upgrade? Because if I find I cannot downgrade to free later, only option for me would be to delete the entire instance.
