AWS NoSQL Workbench Feature Request: Query Builder Output Node V3 SDK

0

Greetings, Currently the NoSQL Workbench will generate node code only for v2 of sdk. While it is important to support legacy applications on v2 there is a wide user base for the v3 sdk. It would really helpful to be able to toggle the output sdk version. Thanks. -Pavel

Hi Pavel, thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback for NoSQL WB. I agree, SDK V3 should be supported and I'll pass this information along to the team.

Many thanks, Lee

Thank you for your feature request regarding AWS NoSQL Workbench, Pavel. I understand your desire to have the Query Builder output Node.js code for the v3 SDK in addition to the current v2 SDK support. While I don't have specific information about future plans for NoSQL Workbench, I can provide some context on the tool's current capabilities and recent updates.

NoSQL Workbench is a client-side tool designed to help developers design, visualize, and build scalable data models for Amazon DynamoDB. It offers a point-and-click interface for creating and modifying data schemas, as well as generating sample data. The tool has been evolving to support more use cases and improve user experience.

Recent updates to NoSQL Workbench include:

  1. The ability to generate human-readable sample data, which helps in creating realistic demos and testing application access patterns.

  2. Expansion of availability to AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, making it accessible to more users.

  3. Support for designing and visualizing Amazon Keyspaces data models.

These updates show that AWS is actively developing and improving NoSQL Workbench. While there's no specific information about adding v3 SDK support for Node.js code generation, your suggestion to toggle between SDK versions is a valuable one. It would indeed be beneficial for users working with the latest SDK version.

As NoSQL Workbench is available at no additional cost and is regularly updated, there's a possibility that such features could be considered in future releases. In the meantime, you might want to check the AWS Developer Forums or GitHub repositories for any discussions or feature requests related to v3 SDK support in NoSQL Workbench.

Thank you for your feedback, as it helps AWS improve their tools and services to better meet developer needs.
