why does the aws vpn client pop to the front on connection?

3

we use the aws vpn client on macos and one pain point is that the client becomes the top most window after it connects. i can't tell you how many times i've initiated the connection, switched to another window to do some work, and then had the vpn client window pop to the front while i'm typing. inevitably, i'll hit the enter key while i'm typing just when the window pops to the front and that will immediately disconnect the vpn, and i'll have to reconnect again. it would be great if the vpn client did not pop to the front on connect (it could signal completion some other way if necessary). or possibly this could be a configuration option if some people desire that behavior (i know multiple of my coworkers have complained about this issue).

Hello ,

Greetings from AWS!

I understand that you would like to stop the pop ups from occurring after signing into your Client VPN endpoint.

I do understand that this behavior can be annoying and inconvenient. Please note that there is already a Feature request raised with the Client VPN team for the same issue.

We always appreciate hearing how we can improve our services and production. I have gone ahead and +1 to the feature request to have the AWS Client run in the background rather than pop up in the foreground once connected.

Thank you for providing your valuable feedback on the service. While I am unable to comment on if/when this feature may get released, I request you to keep an eye on our What's New and Blog pages for any new feature announcements.

Have a great day ahead!

This has been bugging me (and many colleagues at work) so much that I've googled it and found this post. I really sure hope there's going to be a way to disable this behaviour. 🤞🏼
