There could be a few reasons this happens:
- Issue with autocomplete on specific recipient. If you are trying to send to a specific contact, delete the contact itself, and do it manually. Also have you tried to send to other email domains from the email address with the issue?
- Also related, if the alias that you are sending from is in your address book, you have to delete that record.
Those generally are the most common. If not I would definitely engage AWS Support.

That was an excellent answer, thanks.
The issue wasn't to do with your #1, autocomplete, since I was typing the addresses in, and I had already tried sending to addresses on multiple different domains external to AWS. However, your #2 seemed to correctly identify my issue. I did have an address book entry with the alias' email address. I deleted that address book entry and thereafter I can send email from my previously problematic alias.
