What is the difference between AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) and AWS CloudFormation?

Hello.
AWS SAM is an extension of AWS CloudFormation.
Each resource in AWS SAM is defined in a format similar to previous resource definitions in AWS CloudFormation, and by passing a template written in this format to AWS CloudFormation, you can deploy it as a stack on AWS.
In particular, AWS SAM is specialized for deploying serverless applications.
For example, Lambda, API Gateway, etc. can be defined in a more concise and abbreviated form than the amount of code written in original CloudFormation.
