Is OpenSearch Serverless Meant to Authenticate like OpenSearch Service?

0

When evaluating Amazon OpenSearch Serverless, I've found that SigV4 signed requests require that the service name be specified as "aoss" rather than as "es".

Is this meant to be so, or is it a consequence of the Preview nature of the service? It would complicate existing clients quite a bit – I'd expect an OpenSearch client to work with either OpenSearch Service or OpenSearch Serverless without configuration changes. Especially for this value, which clients currently and resonably expect to be invariant.

Service name for OpenSearch Serverless has been changed to aoss, this is the only change you need to make to your existing client by changing "es" to "aoss" along with the host details for serverless endpoint.

Checkout the client documents here for more details: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/opensearch-service/latest/developerguide/serverless-clients.html#serverless-signing
