Connect to EC2 instance by EC2 Instance Connect/ssh failed

0

Hi, I've got a problem - I cannot connect to basic ec2 instance. All I do is creating new instance with default settings, no key, allow all inbound/outbound traffic. I still got an error connecting through EC2 Instance Connect "EC2 Instance Connect is unable to connect to your instance. Ensure your instance network settings are configured correctly for EC2 Instance Connect. For more information, see Set up EC2 Instance Connect at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-connect-set-up.html." and I cannot make it work. Connecting by ssh from cmd (Windows 11) doesn't work too, I got timeout. Logs works, there's no sign of connect attempt, screenshot of instance is ok. How can I make it work?

AMI: al2023-ami-2023.0.20230614.0-kernel-6.1-x86_64 (AWS linux) Instance type: t2.micro

Hi,

Could you check if your EC2 is deployed in a public subnet that allows it to access the internet? A subnet is considered to be public when it has a direct route to an Internet Gateway.

  • thanks, my public subnet had no internet gateway (or was pointed to the non-existing one?) - I've created new one and it works
