Cancel plan but i can't

0

Hey everyone,

I signed up for AWS thinking I wouldn’t get charged because I was using the Free Tier. Everything was working fine until suddenly I got a charge for about 18 BRL, and my card even declined the payment.

I tried to log in to AWS to pay the 18 BRL, but now I can’t access anything with the same user I was using before. Every page says I don’t have permission to do anything.

All I want to do is cancel the plan and my AWS account, but I can't navigate through any of the AWS console screens because of these access issues.

Any help or advice on how to fix this and cancel everything would be greatly appreciated!

I understand your frustration with the unexpected charges and access issues. Let me provide some guidance on your situation.

First, it's important to note that the AWS Free Tier has limitations and expires after 12 months from the activation of your account. After this period, or if you exceed the Free Tier limits, you may incur charges for the resources you use.

Regarding your access issues, it seems that your account might have been suspended due to the declined payment. When this happens, AWS typically restricts access to the account until the outstanding balance is settled.

To resolve this situation and cancel your account, you'll need to take the following steps:

  1. Contact AWS Support: Since you can't access your account, you'll need to reach out to AWS Support directly. They can help you regain access to your account and guide you through the process of settling the outstanding balance.

  2. Pay the outstanding balance: Once you regain access, you'll need to pay the 18 BRL charge to bring your account back to good standing.

  3. Cancel your subscriptions: After regaining access, you can cancel any active subscriptions through the AWS Marketplace console. This includes SaaS, machine learning, or AMI subscriptions you might have.

  4. Close your account: If you wish to completely close your AWS account after settling the balance and canceling subscriptions, you can do so through the account management console.

Remember, it's crucial to monitor your usage and set up billing alerts to avoid unexpected charges in the future, especially when transitioning from the Free Tier to paid services.

If you decide to continue using AWS in the future, consider using services with "Always Free" offerings or carefully monitoring your usage to stay within your budget.

For now, focus on contacting AWS Support to regain access to your account and resolve the payment issue. They will be able to guide you through the process of settling your balance and, if desired, canceling your account.
