**Note:** You can't use ACM to install a public certificate directly on your AWS based website or application. You must use a [service that's integrated with ACM](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/acm/latest/userguide/acm-services.html).

To associate your ACM certificate with an integrated service, take the following actions:

*   To use a certificate with Elastic Load Balancer, [create an Application Load Balancer](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticloadbalancing/latest/application/create-application-load-balancer.html).
*   To use a certificate with Amazon CloudFront, [update your CloudFront distribution](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/cnames-and-https-procedures.html#cnames-and-https-updating-cloudfront).
*   To use a certificate with Amazon API Gateway, [set up a custom domain name in API Gateway](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/apigateway/latest/developerguide/how-to-custom-domains.html#custom-domain-names-certificates).
*   To associate a certificate with another integrated service, refer to the service's Developer Guide.
