I want to use a different default payment method to pay my AWS charges.

Resolution

Note: When you create an AWS account, your default payment method is the first payment method that you enter.

To change your default payment method, you must add a new payment method or choose another default payment method.

Add a new payment method

Add a new payment method to my AWS account. Make sure that you use an accepted payment method for your seller of record.

Set a new default payment method

Complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Billing and Cost Management console.
  2. In the navigation pane, under Preferences and Settings, choose Payment preferences.
  3. In Payment methods, select your preferred payment method and then select Set as default.

Note: After you update your default payment method, new AWS bills automatically charge to that payment method for future billing. If you change your default payment method at the end of an AWS billing cycle, then you might incur charges on the original payment method.

Remove a payment method

If you want to want to remove a payment method, then complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Billing and Cost Management console.
  2. In the navigation pane, under Preferences and Settings, choose Payment preferences.
  3. Select the payment method that you want to remove, and then choose Delete.
  4. For Delete payment method, choose Delete.
