I want to use a custom base image when I create an EC2 Image Builder recipe.

Short description

Image Builder uses a base image to create & distribute Image Builder images. The base image is specified at the time that you create an Image Builder recipe. By default, the base image is set to a predefined set of managed images.

Resolution

To use a custom base image and set the custom AMI details when you create an Image Builder recipe, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Image Builder console.
  2. From the left pane, select Image recipe.
  3. From the image recipe console, choose Create Image recipe.
  4. From the Create recipe wizard, under the Base image section, choose Enter custom AMI ID, and specify the custom AMI ID that you want to use.
  5. To enter the AMI details that you want to use as the base image, use the free text field.
  6. Continue with the image recipe configuration as required.
