I want to track my Amazon Web Services (AWS) usage and spending across different projects, cost centers, or development environments.


Tags are key-value pairs that let you organize your AWS resources into groups.

To locate and tag resources, use the Tag Editor console. For instructions on tagging, see Finding resources to tag.

Note: Not all resources support tags. For the list of resources that can be tagged, see Supported resources.

You can use tags to:

Use logical groupings of your resources that make sense for your infrastructure or business.

For example, you can organize your resources by:

  • Department

Use user-defined cost allocation tags to create cost allocation tags for your use case.
