Why can't I copy and paste in WorkSpaces?

I want to copy and paste content between my computer and my Amazon WorkSpaces WorkSpace.

Resolution

Clipboard redirection is turned off

Check whether you turned off clipboard redirection in the Group Policy for Windows or the configuration file for Amazon Linux. If you're not the WorkSpace administrator, then contact the administrator to determine whether this feature is turned off.

For information about Windows WorkSpaces, see Configure clipboard redirection (copy/paste) for Amazon DCV or Turn on or turn off clipboard redirection (copy/paste) for PCoIP.

For information about Linux WorkSpaces, see Configure clipboard redirection for DCV Amazon Linux WorkSpaces and Configure clipboard redirection for PCoIP Amazon Linux WorkSpaces.

The WorkSpaces client is outdated

Verify that you're using the latest version of the WorkSpaces client.

The uncompressed object is too large

The maximum size of an object that you can copy and paste in WorkSpaces is 20 MB. This size quota applies to all WorkSpaces clients. To use copy and paste, use a smaller object.

The content type isn't supported

In WorkSpaces web clients, you can't use copy and paste on a PCoIP WorkSpace.

In WorkSpaces mobile clients, you can copy and paste only text and HTML.

In WorkSpaces desktop clients, you can copy and paste text and images.

For PCoIP WorkSpaces, you can't use the WorkSpaces client to copy and paste files between your computer and a WorkSpace.

For DCV WorkSpaces, you can transfer files between your local computer and your "My Storage" folder on the WorkSpaces client. For more information, see How do I transfer files between a local computer and a WorkSpace?
