I created only 1 instance due issue i terminated the instance but it's showing 2 EC2 free tier offers in use.

I encountered an issue where I had to create an EC2 instance, but upon resolving the problem, I terminated the instance. However, despite having only created and terminated one instance, the AWS console is displaying that 2 EC2 free tier offers are in use, with 748.116667 hours remaining, which I did not utilize. Although I confirmed in the instances section that there are no active instances, I am seeking assistance in closing any residual instances and removing files that I uploaded to the server. As a newcomer to AWS, I would appreciate guidance on resolving this discrepancy and ensuring the proper closure of all resources.

Hello.

If you want to search for EC2 that remains in your AWS account, I think it would be a good idea to check the global view from the URL.
If you access the URL below and the "instance" is 0, it means that EC2 has been deleted in all regions.
https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2globalview/home?region=us-east-1#

Also, what AWS beginners often do is forgetting to delete EBS or leaving snapshots, which incurs unnecessary costs.
Therefore, we recommend that you check that there are no remaining EBS or snapshots other than the instance.

  • https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2globalview/home is showing Instances 0 in 0 regions. 2 EC2 free tier offers in use, In EBS its showing You currently have no volumes and snapshots in this region.

  • EBS and snapshots are regional resources, so check the management consoles of other regions and if nothing remains, there should be no billing for EC2, so I don't think there is a problem.

  • Do I need to delete the key pair as well... as it shows no instance, EBS Volumes, Snapshots, and No Elastic IP addresses for the specific region, still showing 2 EC2 free tier offers in use

Hello,

Make sure no EC2 instances are running in another region. Also, I would like to have more info about your scenario like how did you come to know that AWS has charged you for 2 EC2s.

Thanks

I don't think there is anything to worry about here. A new account has 750 hours of Free Tier EC2 (t2.micro & t3.micro) each month, and if you have created one of these, run it for 1.883333 hours, and then terminated it, you're going to have 748.116667 hours still remaining this month.

You also get 30GB of EBS storage per month (gp2 & gp3), so if you have used a small portion if this on the instance that you have since terminated, then you also have some Free Tier allocation still remaining.

Are these the two EC2 Free Tier offers that are in use?

As long as you are careful to stay within Free Tier you shouldn't be charged for anything. Advice on avoiding charges in Free Tier is here https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/free-tier-charges

You can check your current Free Tier entitlement across all services at https://console.aws.amazon.com/billing/home#/freetier
