Streaming Replication in postgres between local server and Amazon RDS

Hello! I would like to know if it is possible to have my local server as Principal in postgres and have a read replica in Amazon RDS? Or if to do this I need to establish an EC2 instance and not use Amazon RDS

Yes, it is possible to have your local server act as the primary instance (Principal) in a PostgreSQL replication setup and have a read replica in Amazon RDS. However, a PostgreSQL streaming replication would need to be built up between your local server and the Amazon RDS instance in order to accomplish this. You must configure the primary server (your local server) to transmit its WAL (Write-Ahead Log) files to the RDS instance in order to set up streaming replication. It's crucial to keep in mind that in some situations, replicating to an Amazon RDS read replica instead of using your local server as the main instance may not be the best course of action. Consider using Amazon RDS Multi-AZ which is made especially for high-availability and scaling, if you need high availability or you need to scale your database horizontally. Also, note that PostgreSQL streaming replication setup and management can be challenging and requires careful configuration and monitoring.
