Before you migrate your Amazon EC2 instance, complete the following steps:

• Make sure that you have a backup of your instance. Either create a snapshot or create a Windows AMI of your instance.
• Make sure that you migrate your instance during a maintenance window. Instance migration requires stopping and starting of an instance.
• Review other prerequisites and considerations for compatible instance types.
