I understand you're having trouble accessing your AWS account because your previous device with MFA configured is no longer working, and when you try to use the "Sign in using alternative factors" option, the verification code sent to your email arrives too late and has already expired.
For this situation, you have a few options:
-
Try the alternative authentication process again, but be ready to enter the code immediately when you receive it. Sometimes email delivery can be delayed due to various factors.
-
If you continue to have issues with the email verification timing out, you should contact AWS Support directly. They can help deactivate your MFA device after verifying your account email address and primary contact phone number.
-
You can reach AWS Support specifically for MFA issues through their dedicated support channel for MFA device problems.
Once you regain access to your account, consider registering multiple MFA devices (AWS allows up to eight) to avoid this situation in the future. This provides backup options if one device is lost, damaged, or unavailable.
For your new device, you might want to consider using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy, or even a hardware MFA device for added security and reliability.
