Lightsail cloning issue funtionality stopped

We had a working MVP on our lightsail but when we cloned the instance for testing server upload functionality on a single module stopped working on both the original instance (which it worked before clone) and the testing server even after adjustments to endpoints. Other upload functionality still works on other places just in this one place where deliverables (documents) are uploaded does the error occur. We get a successfully uploaded message but get a 404 error when trying to retrieve them as though the pathway simply dissappeared. We've looked through the code, the server for the document (as it says successful on upload), and the database for the possible problems. The document never shows on our server so asking if anyone might know what we are missing as this has been a long investigation and we need some guidance. Please advise.
