Amazon RDS for SQL Server Workshop - Question about the DB Instance creation

0

Hello, I meet an issue when I follow the workshop to create the DB instance. (https://catalog.us-east-1.prod.workshops.aws/workshops/897acbd7-8f2e-46ed-8dcd-c97872d5b3ce/en-US/lab1/1-createdatabase) It is noticed : Start the pre-created instance. Before creating a new instance, let's start the workshop-saz-rds-sqlserver instance, which is currently in a Stopped state.

The problem is , I have no pre-created db instance in my dashboard. Even in the YAML file I downloaded. the stack into CloudFormation is well in Completed sucess state. I can create a DB instance manually, but I have nothing in the secret Manager anyway.

Maybe this pre-created instance came from another workshop ?

Please advise. Many thx, Cheers,

I am sorry you are having issues with one of our workshop. I have reached out to the owner to clarify this. I will update here as soon as I have a response.

Thanks for reporting.

The instance is not automatically created to avoid unexpected charges for the users that decide to follow the workshop on their own account. You can follow Lab "Create a new RDS SQL Server" to create the Single AZ instance manually and follow through the lab to make it Highly Available and complete the rest of the lab using that instance.

We will update the workshop note to clarify this as needed.

Thanks!

Hi, Thx for your feedback ! Really appreciated. I will do it manually so, then follow the HA through the lab.

Cheers,
