"Google::Cloud::ResourceExhaustedError" for "translate.googleapis.com"

Hi Re:Post! Thank you for your time and help!

Account ID: 9102-8619-2445 IAM user: donald.collins

I'm trying to review/troubleshoot this error one of our engineers received:

" Quota exceeded for quota metric \'v2 and v3 general model characters\' and limit \'v2 and v3 general model characters per day\' of service \'translate.googleapis.com\' for consumer \'project_number:422303603638\'.", grpc_status:8, created_time:"2025-07-11T10:00:07.463253-07:00"}} (Google::Cloud::ResourceExhaustedError) "

But I (donald.collins) cannot even access the service quotes area:

" An error occurred Your request has a problem. Please see the following details. User: arn:aws:iam::910286192445:user/donald.collins is not authorized to perform: servicequotas:ListServices because no identity-based policy allows the servicequotas:ListServices action "

When I try to add that authorization, I get: "The selected policies exceed this account's quota" The selected policies exceed this account's quota

Please advise! Thank you! Best Regards, Donald

It appears there's a misunderstanding in your request. The error message you're seeing is related to Google Cloud Platform's translation service (translate.googleapis.com), not an AWS service. The error indicates you've exceeded Google Cloud's quota for their translation API.

Regarding the AWS-related portion of your question, you're encountering two separate AWS issues:

  1. You don't have permission to access AWS Service Quotas because your IAM user (donald.collins) lacks the necessary "servicequotas:ListServices" permission.

  2. When trying to add this permission, you're hitting an AWS policy quota limit with the error "The selected policies exceed this account's quota."

To resolve these issues:

  • You'll need to have an administrator add the necessary Service Quotas permissions to your IAM user
  • If you're hitting policy size limits, consider consolidating existing policies or removing unnecessary permissions before adding new ones

For the Google Cloud translation service error, you would need to request a quota increase through Google Cloud Platform, not AWS, as these are completely separate cloud providers with different quota management systems.
