How can I re-deploy a greengrass deployment from AWS console without having to create a new revision of the deployment?

Hello,

I have a component that gets deployed to a dev environment. The component depends on the docker application manager and deploys a number of containers from ECR. In the component recipe, I have the containers listed as artifacts and they reference container by the tag 'latest'.

I would like to re-deploy this component manually from the AWS console when new versions of the containers are published to ECR. The only way I have figured out how to do this is to revise the deployment, not make any changes to it, and then re-deploy.

Is there a something I can do to re-deploy a deployment configuration without the revise step? Having to revise the deployment and not make any changes feels silly, surely I am missing something.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your use-case regarding the re-deployment of a component that depends on Docker containers from Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR). We understand your concern about having to revise the deployment without making any changes, which may seem unnecessary.

Unfortunately, there is currently no direct way to re-deploy an existing AWS IoT Greengrass deployment from the AWS Management Console without creating a new revision.

In case if you have any further queries/concerns, please raise a AWS Support case and we will be happy to look into it.
