Unable to create custom configuration for instance

0

When I go to https://calculator.aws/ I am able to create a custom selection of service for LightSail: Operating system (Linux), Number of servers (4), Instance type (LfRBundleStop:GPU_XL_16GB) High Availability (No), Number of databases (1), Instance type (80GB) 16GB memory, 50 GB SSD storage, 1 TB transfer 49.43 USD / month

But then it doesn't provide an option to purchase the service, so I then go to https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/webapp/create/instance But there it doesn't provide me option to select custom services and under 4 vCPU, the only option I am given is: 16GB memory, 320 GB SSD storage, 6 TB transfer 80 USD / month

I want to purchase the previous custom configuration, how do I do that. Apparently I have to pay $29 / month just to ask them what to buy before even becoming a customer. I am hoping this community can help.

Hi,

You can view all Lightsail offerings and pricing here

The server configuration you selected in the pricing calculator (https://calculator.aws/) is part of our Lightsail For Research and is meant for running your research applications in the cloud. These can be launched from https://lfr.console.aws.amazon.com/ls/research/webapp/

Please note however that in the calculator, you seem to have selected LfRBundleStop:GPU_XL_16GB which is the price of the server when in stopped state (similar to hibernation) and is not the server's rate when running.

The above research application servers do not typically need a Database.

If however you do need a Database additionally, they can be launched from https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/webapp/home/databases.

The Database are usually paired with Lightsail's regular servers which can be launched from the same above console's Instances page which you have already found.

The research and regular consoles have slightly differently URLs.

Also, for such Account and billing help/guidance you can always contact AWS Support under the free support plan.
