Cost Optimization Hub's new checks provide precise savings estimates based on your AWS commercial agreements, including Reserved Instances and Savings Plans. The system analyzes your resource usage history and context to generate prioritized recommendations.

Trusted Advisor now integrates these enhanced cost optimization features to help reduce your AWS spending.

To access these recommendations:

  • Opt in new checks in Cost Optimization Hub
  • Opt in new checks in Compute Optimizer

For Example check Qch7DwouX1 TA check earlier gives recommendations to

  • Stop or terminate the instance in order to achieve the cost savings.

With New Check

  • Stop or terminate the instance.
  • Move to Graviton
  • Right Size the instance.

The newer Trusted Advisor checks integrated from AWS Cost Optimization Hub offer several improvements over the older legacy checks:

  1. More customized and specific cost optimization recommendations that are personalized based on your resource utilization patterns.

  2. A broader array of cost savings optimization checks covering more AWS services, including recommendations for Amazon EC2 instances, EBS volumes, RDS, Lambda functions, Savings Plans, RDS Reserved Instances, Redshift, ElastiCache, OpenSearch Service, EC2 Auto Scaling groups, RDS DB instance storage, Fargate, DynamoDB, MemoryDB, and Aurora DB cluster storage.

  3. Improved accuracy in cost savings estimates by taking into account more contextual and historical information about how your resources are being used.

  4. Discount-aware cost optimization recommendations that provide more realistic savings estimates.

  5. Better alignment of cost savings estimates and recommendations between Trusted Advisor and Cost Optimization Hub, creating consistency across both services.

To access these newer checks, you need to opt in to both Cost Optimization Hub and AWS Compute Optimizer. While AWS continues to provide access to both sets of checks, the older Trusted Advisor checks are now considered legacy checks and are marked with a banner indicating this status. AWS encourages customers to use the newer checks for more accurate and comprehensive cost optimization guidance.
