Account verification stuck after 5 days - CloudShell and Route 53 domain purchase blocked

0

My AWS account is 5 days old and account verification has not completed despite being well past the stated 2-day window. I am unable to use CloudShell or purchase domains in Route 53, possibly others I haven't discovered yet.

Error message: "Unable to create the environment. Your account verification is in progress. This may take up to two days for new accounts."

Steps already completed:

Account activation confirmed Valid payment method on file and verified Tested CloudShell in multiple regions - same error in all regions Opened multiple support cases - all received automated responses with standard troubleshooting steps that I have already completed Based on research, this appears to require manual backend intervention by the AWS Accounts team to sync the account verification token. Has anyone experienced this and found a resolution?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your account verification is still pending. I've located your case and shared the details internally. Our team will be in touch, keep an eye on your Support Center for updates.

Multiple reports on re:Post "Route 53 Domain Registration Restricted on Root User Account - Cannot Register Domain | AWS re:Post" confirm the exact same pattern.

This aligns perfectly with the conclusion you reached during your investigation: that manual backend intervention by the account team is required. Although CloudShell and Route 53 domain purchasing are separate services, the most logical explanation is that they are being blocked simultaneously due to the same root cause, as both rely on a shared backend process that checks the account's verification status.

Recommended Action

Instead of creating multiple new cases, clearly request an escalation by replying to an existing case.

  • Thanks! I have requested escalation. Whether or not a human being sees it is another matter... lol

Account verification delays beyond the typical 24-hour window can occur, and certain AWS services like CloudShell may remain restricted until verification fully completes. Since you've already confirmed your payment method and account activation, and you're seeing this persist after 5 days, this does appear to require attention from the AWS account verification team.

Since you've already opened support cases, the best path forward is to add correspondence directly to your existing case through the AWS Support Center at https://console.aws.amazon.com/support/. In your update, clearly note that verification has exceeded 5 days and specify which services are affected (CloudShell, Route 53 domain registration). This helps ensure your case receives appropriate attention.

The verification process occasionally requires backend adjustments that only the AWS Accounts team can perform, so working through your support case is the most direct route to resolution.

  • This canned response only proves my point. I have opened 3 cases with support, and I just get canned responses. I need a HUMAN BEING to look at it.
