Does AWS Elemental MediaLive support input of type LLHLS (Low-Latency HLS)?

0

While using AWS Elemental Media Live I've tried ingesting multiple working LLHLS streams and all fail with:

  • Video Not Detected [VideoBuffer[1]] Video not detected: Check input signal
  • Audio Not Detected [1.1] Audio not detected: Check input signal
  • [Failed probe/open: [No parser found for container]

I do not have the same issue with HLS - it just works.

Question: Does AWS Media Live support LLHLS? If NO, are there any alternative AWS resources that do (e.g. Kinesis)?

Hi, yes, it does and it's brand new: see https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2023/05/aws-elemental-mediapackage-low-latency-hls/

Starting today you can package your media streams in Low-Latency HTTP Live
Streaming (LL-HLS) format with AWS Elemental MediaPackage. LL-HLS functionality
can be used with AWS Elemental MediaLive or AWS Elemental Live v2.25.0, in combination
with SCTE-35 for ad insertion workflows, and with SPEKE v2 for multi-key digital rights
management (DRM), including key rotation.

Also this page may help: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/medialive/latest/ug/mediapackage-v2-low-latency.html

Best, Didier

  • Hi, thanks - I saw this link earlier in my search. However, it is about packaging existing content into LLHLS in MediaPackage rather than being able to have LLHLS as input to MediaLive.

  • Ok, you said MediaLive with no mention of MediaPackage. Hence my answer.
