How to add SNS Toll-free Origination numbers for SMS in US-west-1

Question

Everything I have read shows sms is supported by SNS in us-west-1. I can’t seem to figure out how to add, or request, toll-free origination numbers for sns.

We have a Cognito user pool in us-west-1 and would like to use its phone verification (ultimately through sns) but this is not sending the verification codes. The root cause looks to be a lack of an origination number in SNS (in us-west-1).

I successfully have SNS toll-free origination numbers in us-east-1, but there also doesn’t seem to be a way to tell Cognito to use SNS in us-east-1 and migrating users to a new pool in east would be horrible.

Side note: SNS is in production mode, not sandbox.

I understand that you are trying to add toll-free origination numbers to SNS to a specific region. You can contact AWS Support to request an origination identity, which will allow you to obtain an origination number.
