Export Ubuntu EKS Distro AMI failing

I am following the documentation linked below. I was able to build the image successfully but when I try to complete step 7 I get an error in the console also shown below. Since the script that runs to build the image starts, stops and creates the AMI I should need to do anything extra. How can I get the AMI to export?

An error occurred (NotExportable) when calling the ExportImage operation: The image ID provided (ami-xxxxxxxxxxxxx) is a marketplace AMI and is not exportable.
