AWS VPC Charges on hosting my DB in AWS RDS in Free Tier: How to Avoid Unexpected Costs as a Student?
I'm a student just starting to use AWS for my projects under the Free Tier. I recently created an Amazon RDS instance, and I noticed that a VPC was also created as part of the setup. Unfortunately, I’m being billed for this VPC, even though I expected it to be covered under the Free Tier. As a student, I can’t afford these additional costs, and I’m trying to figure out what I can do to avoid them.

My questions are:
1.Why am I being billed for the VPC, and what specific resources within the VPC might be causing these charges? 2.Is there a way to configure my RDS and VPC setup to avoid or minimize these charges while staying within the Free Tier? 3.Are there any best practices for students using AWS to prevent unexpected costs? 4.Can I move or reconfigure my RDS instance to another setup that won’t incur these additional charges?

I apologize for the frustration this has caused. Since you mentioned it is a VPC setup as part of a RDS instance, I would bet the charges are for a IPv4 address. You can read the details here:

Is there any way to remove the IPv4 charge from now onwards? Also, since RDS comes with a VPC and the VPC comes with an IPv4, does this mean I can't create an RDS instance free of charge under the free tier?
