  • It will stop working in 2025 is no longer an option as an answer. greetings.

  • Sorry about that... so many services so little time. :-)

Looks like AWS does have a partnership with Dropbox that was mentioned in the email to exisiting WorkDocs customers. https://www.dropbox.com/app-integrations/aws

On the opensource and self supported side, NextCloud is popular.

  • Hello iBehr, I was thinking about using FSx or some other AWS solution, I wouldn't want to leave the AWS environment. greetings. JulioM

  • Perhaps I read into your question incorrectly when you said "local server" that you were looking to store files from workstations on-prem to a cloud service. As such, the suggestions I gave facilitated user/workstation storage of files to a cloud drive and sharing between the users.

If you are looking for a shared filesystem for Windows servers in AWS, then yes, FSx is a great option. If you are looking for NFS shares between Linux instances, EFS is a great option. If you are just looking to store random objects (file types) and are willing to access them via https, nothing beats S3.

Perhaps a bit more information about the:

    • number/types of clients that will access the storage
    • size/type/quantity of files you are looking to store
    • type of access that you need to the files (protocol)

would help us provide more detailed suggestions.

  • Good afternoon iBehr, As I told you, it would be a solution from scratch. *There will be about 10 users. *total storage would be 1T

    • We want it to be a Z drive

  • So since you say Z Drive, I will assume Window clients. Are these 10 "users" all EC2 instances? Or are they desktop/laptop/workstations that are on-premises?

If they are all EC2, FSx would be your best bet. If they are all on-premises, I would not advise trying to map a Windows drive over a VPN and certainly not over the internet. In this case, I would go back to previously mentioned options such as Dropbox or NextCloud.

  • on-premise - laptops(windows 11) VPN - Direct Connect - Which one did you choose? + Fsx + Fsx Gatway + Storage Gateway

    kind regards J

  • good night @iBehr, Which would be the best option ? kind regards, J.
