Cannot delete ACM certificate due to certificate in use error, but there are no Cloudfront distributions on my account

0

Hello,

I am attempting to delete an ACM certificate. However I get an error stating that the certificate is in use:

Failed to delete certificates
Certificate ... in account ... is in use. (Service: AWSCertificateManager; Status Code: 400; Error Code: ResourceInUseException; Request ID: ...; Proxy: null)

The associated resource is said to be a Cloudfront distribution but I have no such thing set up, nor do I have any custom domain names set up in API Gateway. I have already consulted this post and this post as well as this video. I have also reached out to the billing department to ask if they can delete it, as suggested in one of the linked support threads. Is there any way I can delete this certificate on my end?

Thanks for your help.

ACM usually informs you what resources the certificate is in use by. Have you checked this?

  • Thanks for your response. Yes, the resource is apparently a Cloudfront distribution, though I am unable to see any instances running on my end.
