Is it possible to create RDS proxy for a RDS read replica in different region?

I have an RDS MYSQL instance in the ap-south-1 region. For reusing the connections to the database we are planning to use an RDS proxy. Now our plan is to set up a read replica in the ap-south-2 region to manage the read and write properly. Now we want to use a proxy for this read replica too. Is it possible?

No. Documentation states that database with replication allows the proxy to connect to the writer instance only.

Also the proxy needs to be in the same VPC as the RDS instance.

This is possible with Aurora. Your questions is tagged with MySQL so if that's what you're interested in, it doesn't look like this functionality is available (yet).
