AWS DMS RDS PostgreSQL to MYSQL

0

I am trying to use AWS DMS to migrate our PostgreSQL to MySQL which are hosted in AWS RDS. PostgreSQL version = 14.0 MySQL version = 8.0 Below are the steps I followed:

  • created a replication instance
  • created a instance profile.
  • created two data providers one for PostgreSQL and other for MySQL.
  • Then I created migration task. Now this is where the issue came up. I selected source data provider as PostgreSQL but then I can't find MySQL in the supported target data provider. Even doing the reverse is not working. creating migration task as you can see above, the target provider is same as source

Data providers data providers I created as you can see above, there are 3 mysql engine and 1 postgresql

Endpoints Enter image description here

Since my source and target DB engine are mentioned in the list of supported DB in AWS doc, can it be possible that a certain combination of heterogeneous migration is not possible? AWS have not mentioned what combination of source and target are supported.

Hi,

You do not mention the creation of source and target endpoints: they are mandatory for DMS to work. See https://docs.aws.amazon.com/dms/latest/userguide/CHAP_Introduction.HighLevelView.html

So, did you create them?

Detailled guidance to create them: https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/create-source-target-endpoints-aws-dms

Best,
