Constraints on Instance Types

0

Is there a list that summarizes the constraints on instance types?

For example, some instance types cannot use VSS Backup or can only be started in certain AZs, and we would like to know if there is exhaustive information.

For instance types that do not support VSS backup, refer to Unsupported Amazon EC2 instances

As for instance type availability by AZ, you can view it from EC2 console, Instance Types, under Networking section for each selected instance type, or from AWS CLI. More details at Why am I receiving the error "Your requested instance type is not supported in your requested Availability Zone" when launching an EC2 instance?

  • Thank you for your response and review.

The example I gave is just one example and I am concerned if there are any other restrictions that I am not aware of. In addition to this, I am concerned if there is any other information that can be compiled such as "this feature is not available for this instance type".

    Best Regards,

The major constraints are described in the instance type documentation and FAQ, but unfortunately not all constraints are covered. Therefore, I believe it is necessary to check for individual constraints based on what you want to do.
