Operational excellence vs. ...

0

The first pillar of the well-architected framework is Operational Excellence. However, then the remaining five are, also after consulting the docs, just more specialized aspects of the first pillar. Is there a good way to think about Operational Excellence capturing something totally different than the other pillars? Thanks!

I understand your viewpoint. That being said, we know that customers are often concerned with only a subset, sometimes just one, of the six pillars. There is some known overlap. For example, not implementing a security best practice of rotating credentials could impact your reliability if the credentials are no longer valid and your workload is unavailable. The best practices are grouped according to customer feedback on where the best practice applies and where we have seen application enable success.
