Change platform of EC2 instance

How can I change a EC2 instance platform from using Linux 2 to Linux? The python version in the EC2 instance (a 3.7 version) is better suited for Linux (not Linux 2): https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lambda/latest/dg/lambda-runtimes.html. Thank you - Brendan

Based on my research the only option is to launch linux instances
