(resolved) CloudWatch per metric-month princing

0

Hello,

For a couple of days, I have been incurring charges from the CloudWatch service.

I have incurred this charge in multiple Regions, however, I don't have any services running in those Regions, only in North Virginia, where I have the most resources provisioned I don't have any charges at all.

Thank you for any answers or guidance

Hello.

If you look at your bill, you'll see that you're charged for custom metrics.
Can I see what metrics are being created in CloudWatch Metrics for the region where I'm incurring costs?
You may be able to identify the AWS service from the metrics being created.

  • Thank you for sharing. As you can see from the image, CloudWatch Logs, S3, and Usage (service quota metrics) seem to be recorded. Among these, Usage (service quota metric) is included in the basic metrics, so it is probably not included in the price. For example, do you have any metrics filters set up in CloudWatch Logs? Also, it looks like over 1000 custom metrics are created in the Frankfurt region, what kind of metrics are created in the Frankfurt region? Please check not only the namespace but also the specific metric name.

Hello, Thank you first of all for all of your answers and time, however, I have contacted AWS support and helped to resolve the problem. This was the solution to the problem

Upon checking your billing information, I found that for the Cloudwatch Service, you were charged "$0.30 per metric-month for the first 10,000 metrics" in the regions you specified because you exceeded the Free Tier specification of metric-month - first 10 metrics.

Furthermore, as you mentioned that you don't have resources in those regions, I have found that there are requests made in those regions for the S3 Services along with Data Transfers made between regions as well.

In order to resolve the problem I had to delete a MRAC and the buckets associated.

Thank you again for your answer, No, I do not currently have any metric filters set up in any regions (not even any log events).

Here is a screenshot of the metrics that I collected in the Frankfurt Region.
