how do i tag api operations like CreateDBInstance:0014, CREATE_CERTIFICATE_AUTHORITY or CreateCacheCluster:0002?

I'd like to assign cost allocation tags to certain api operations that appear as untagged when i look at them in cost explorer? I think some of these are related to upfront charges for reserved instances. I can't seem to find a way to assign tags to these in the AWS docs. How do I do it?

Hello,

I understand that you would like to know how to tag API Operations like CreateDBInstance:0014, CREATE_CERTIFICATE_AUTHORITY or CreateCacheCluster:0002.

To achieve that :

You can activate the CreateDBInstance tag in the Billing and Cost Management console.

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the AWS Billing console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/billing/ .
  2. Under cost management (Cost explorer)
  3. Navigate to the right (Report parameters)
  4. “Group by”, on dimensions filter for API Operations

You can download the Cost and usage breakdown as CSV.

I hope this helps

  • Unfortunately, your steps do not answer the question asked. Your steps explain how to group or filter by API operations. But I'm not seeking to group or filter by the API operations, I'm looking to apply a cost allocation tag to the API operations. To explain in other words, these API operations show up under the "No tag key:" filter and that's what I want to fix. I want to apply my cost allocation tag key to these API operations.
