Domain transfer from GoDaddy

0

I transferred a domain (acttheatrehistory.org) from GoDaddy several days ago. I received the message from AWS titled "Transferring acttheatrehistory.org to Amazon Route 53 succeeded" on November 18. Now, GoDaddy's DNS entry has expired, but Route 53 shows the domain status as "transferPeriod". Is there something I should be doing here, or will it eventually become live? thx

Your nameserver (NS) records are still pointing at the GoDaddy nameservers, these need to be updated to point to Route 53 https://who.is/whois/acttheatrehistory.org

All the steps you need to go through are here https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/migrate-dns-domain-in-use.html

Most users tend to prepare many of these steps in advance, e.g. duplicating the records (step 3) and lowering the TTL (step 4). How many of these steps have you gone through at this point?

If you've been through all those steps and you still can't resolve any DNS records then you can raise a support call with AWS. Even if you are on a basic support plan you can still do this for domain registration and transfer issues.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/domain-contact-support.html

AWS provides a Basic support plan, free of charge, for all AWS customers. The plan includes assistance for the following issues related to domain registration:

  • Transferring domains to or from Amazon Route 53

Thank you - I had mistakenly re-set the nameservers back to GoDaddy when I was trying to debug. All is fine now. Much appreciated!
