Can I run memoryDB without a VPC but with IAM credentials?

I want to create a memoryDB instance without putting it inside a VPC. But only give access via IAM credentials. Is this possible in any way? This would make it much simpler to work with.

No, it has to leave in a VPC and you can leverage IAM users with appropriate policies to access: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/memorydb/latest/devguide/iam.html#security_iam_authentication

I was able to deploy a MemoryDB instance outside a VPC via cloudformation. And I'm quite sure they added support for IAM users to authenticate. However they have 0 examples. https://www.amazonaws.cn/en/new/2023/amazon-memorydb-for-redis-now-supports-iam-authentication/
