I have realized that the schema changing functionality does not work as it planns. Selected options are not applied when clicking Edit. Anybody having same issue or solutions? I know the availability of old design console, looking however, workaround applicable on the new design.

After selecting the required table that you wanted to edit, you have to click on Actions -> 'Edit schema' for editing the structure of your table. By structure I mean that you will have the option to add new columns, delete existing columns and change the datatype of existing columns.

  • To add a new column, you can straight away click on the 'Add' button present on the console.
  • To delete a column, you first have to select the column and then click on 'Delete' button which is also present on the console itself.
  • To edit the datatype, first select the column and click on 'Edit' button which will open another dialog box prompting you to change the datatype of the column. Be sure to click on 'Edit' at the bottom of the dialog box to save your changes.

After making all the required changes to the table's schema, please be sure to click on 'Update schema' button present on the bottom right corner of the page. If you do not do that then you won't be able to save the changes made by you.

Even after following the above mentioned steps, if you still face any issue with the console, please elaborate on the steps that you have followed that has lead to the unexpected behavior.

Hi Chaitu,

Thank you for guiding me precisely the steps required. Yes, I have followed the third bullet point to Edit schema, but the newly selected data type is not reflected in the screen before clicking Update Schema, staying the original data type. In the old console screen, the change of schema has been tentatively applied to the table and finlised when clicking the save button.

I hope you might be able to reproduce this issue in your environment too.
