AWS account suspended after security case escalation - production healthcare services offline, no ETA

-4

My AWS account was suspended on June 18, 2026 after a security-related case that originated in May.

AWS informed me that the account may have been accessed by a third party and requested remediation steps through Support Case ***************. Unfortunately, I failed to respond to the original case in time, and the account was later suspended.

As soon as the suspension occurred, I contacted AWS Support. The support engineer confirmed that the case has been transferred to the AWS Security Team.

The challenge is that this account hosts production healthcare workloads, including applications used by patients, physicians, and administrative staff. The outage is currently impacting access to medical studies and operational information.

I fully understand the need for AWS to investigate security concerns and I am prepared to complete all remediation steps immediately. However, I have not received an ETA or any indication of expected review timelines.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

  • How long did the AWS Security Team take to respond?
  • Is there any additional escalation path once a case has been transferred to Security?
  • Are account resources generally preserved while an active security review is in progress?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for your question regarding AWS account suspensions.

When an AWS account is suspended due to security concerns, AWS automatically creates a dedicated support case with the AWS Account team that contains detailed information about the suspension reason and the specific steps required to reinstate your account. This case provides the most direct path to resolution.

Hence, please check your AWS Support case dashboard for a case created by the AWS Account team. Please review the communication in that case and respond with any requested information. The Account team will review your account and provide updates directly through that case.

Important Note About re:Post: While re:Post is an excellent resource for general technical questions, account-specific matters such as suspensions cannot be discussed there due to security and privacy considerations. Account-level issues require investigation of confidential account details that can only be shared through private support cases.

Please prioritize following up on the support case created by the AWS Account team, as that is the appropriate channel for resolving your account suspension and restoring your healthcare services.

If you have any queries or concerns, please raise a case with our AWS Support team for further assistance.

Thank you!
