Hello there,

Greetings of the day and I hope you are well!

Thank you for reaching us through AWS re:Post. I see that you have the following query :

"Is it possible to export an AMI in VHD format with fixed disk instead of dynamic?"

Please note, that according to below document : [+] System requirements - Image formats - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vm-import/latest/userguide/prerequisites.html#vmimport-image-formats

VM Import/Export supports the following image formats for importing both disks and VMs: • Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) image format, which supports importing images with multiple hard disks. • Stream-optimized ESX Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK) image format, which is compatible with VMware ESX and VMware vSphere virtualization products. • Fixed and Dynamic Virtual Hard Disk (VHD/VHDX) image formats, which are compatible with Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Azure, and Citrix Xen virtualization products. • Raw format for importing disks and VMs.

Thus, I can confirm that it is possible to export certain AMI in VHD format using VM I/E AWS Tool.VM Import/Export enables you to import virtual machine (VM) images from your existing virtualization environment to Amazon EC2, and then export them back, for more information: [+] What is VM Import/Export? - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vm-import/latest/userguide/what-is-vmimport.html

Please visit below document to learn about AMI Export process and consideration involved with it : [+] Exporting a VM directly from an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vm-import/latest/userguide/vmexport_image.html

I hope that the above provided information is useful to you, in case you need detailed technical guidance I would suggest opening a Support Case with our Team using: [+] Creating support cases and case management - Creating a support case - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awssupport/latest/user/case-management.html#creating-a-support-case

Thank you and Have a great day ahead!
