Outdated Lightsail Free Trial Info on aws.amazon.com/free/compute/ page

0

Hi AWS Community,

I wanted to flag an inconsistency I found on the official AWS Free Tier page: https://aws.amazon.com/free/compute/

The Lightsail section on that page still shows the old "90-day free trial" offer (750 hours/month), but according to the official Lightsail Billing FAQ:

"Lightsail's short-term free trial offers have been replaced by the AWS Free Tier. These offers are no longer available to new Lightsail customers."

This is confusing for new AWS customers (like me) who sign up expecting the 90-day free trial, but actually receive the new $200 credits system instead (which was introduced on July 16, 2025).

The outdated page can mislead new users into thinking they have a dedicated 90-day Lightsail trial, when in reality that offer no longer exists for accounts created after July 15, 2025.

Suggested fix: Update the Lightsail section on aws.amazon.com/free/compute/ to reflect the current Free Tier credits system.

Hope this helps other new users avoid the same confusion!

P.S. I am a new AWS user who discovered this inconsistency while exploring Lightsail for the first time. I think this deserves at least a small prize! 😊

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You're absolutely correct that Amazon Lightsail's short-term free trial offers have been replaced by the AWS Free Tier program. The previous 90-day free trial offer is no longer available to new Lightsail customers. Instead, new AWS customers can now get started with Lightsail using the AWS Free Tier, which provides up to $200 in free AWS credits. New customers receive $100 in credits upon account creation, with the opportunity to earn an additional $100 by completing specific activities with AWS services. These credits can be used across eligible AWS services, including Lightsail, for up to six months or until the credits are exhausted, whichever comes first. The AWS Free Tier also includes access to over 30 always-free services with ongoing monthly allowances. If you notice documentation that hasn't been updated to reflect this change, you can provide feedback through AWS re:Post or your usual AWS Support contacts. This helps AWS keep documentation accurate and current for all customers. We appreciate you taking the time to point out this inconsistency—feedback like yours helps improve the experience for everyone exploring AWS services.
